I ran courses for adults for many years prior to my move to Salisbury in Dec. 2019, initially in adult education and then with local art societies or privately.
I work in several media and I encourage my students to explore them, but my starting point is always clay, and many students choose to stay with this.

My workshops are always hands-on and once students have embarked on their first pieces I use situations arising from their work to introduce technical and aesthetic guidance. I include informal critique sessions to encourage students to discuss their own and each others’ work. I also encourage critiques of my own work.

I encourage my students to choose their own subject matter, as well as standard subjects such as portrait and figure work.

Below are the workshops I offer at my studio in Campbell Road, Salisbury.

My workshops will resume once lockdown restrictions have been fully removed.

Please contact me if you require further information and to register your interest.

My U3A sculpture group in Carlisle hard at work!

“I was a member of Donald Foxley’s U3A sculpture group for over 10 years when he lived in Carlisle. He is a very inspiring teacher, always full of ideas, and very generous with his time and materials. His good humour and informal style meant that our sessions were always very enjoyable.

He encouraged members of his class to follow their own interests and was able to adapt his expertise to help members work in a diverse range of materials, e.g from soapstone carving, wood sculpture, ceramics, to large resin based garden sculptures.

I think that anyone would be lucky to have him as their teacher.”
